Contact & Travel
Everything you need to reach ROBORUSH AI 2026 at SRM IST, Kattankulathur — directions from the airport, Central, and bus terminals, where to eat, how to book a hostel, and who to contact. Coming from out of town? Start with Getting Here.
Chennai International Airport (Tirusulam / Meenambakkam) is about 30 km from campus and usually the fastest arrival point for out-of-state guests. The whole trip runs down GST Road (NH-45), the same highway SRM sits on, so it is a straight shot south.
By cab (easiest): Book an Ola / Uber or take a prepaid taxi from the arrivals counter. Expect roughly ₹700–1,000 and 45–75 minutes depending on traffic. Tell the driver "SRM Main Gate, Potheri" or "SRM Tech Park".
By local train (cheapest & traffic-proof): The airport has its own suburban station — Tirusulam — right beside the terminal, and it is on the very same Beach–Chengalpattu line as SRM. Board any Chengalpattu-bound local and get down at Potheri, a short walk from the main gate. Fare is about ₹10–15 and the ride is ~45 min.
If you arrive by long-distance train at MGR Chennai Central, campus is about 35 km to the south. Central itself is not on SRM's suburban line, so the reliable route is to first reach Tambaram and switch to a Chengalpattu local.
By train: Take the Chennai Metro or a suburban service to Tambaram, then board a Chengalpattu-bound suburban train. Stay on for the run — Perungalathur → Vandalur → Urapakkam → Guduvancheri — and get off at Potheri (the stop for SRM). Total fare is barely ₹15–25; plan 75–100 minutes end to end.
By cab: A direct Ola / Uber from Central is the comfortable option at roughly ₹600–900 and 60–90 minutes, traffic permitting. Late at night, the cab is the safer pick over waiting for a train.
SRM is served by Potheri on the Chennai Beach ↔ Chengalpattu suburban corridor. From the city side (Beach, Park, Tambaram) always board a train whose destination board reads Chengalpattu (sometimes shown as "Chengalpet" / "CGL") and alight at Potheri. Coming from the south, take any Beach / Tambaram-bound train and do the same. Guduvancheri is the stop just before Potheri if you overshoot.
SRM sits directly on GST Road, so almost every government or private bus running between Chennai and Chengalpattu passes the campus. Ask the conductor to stop at "SRM" / Potheri.
Huge bus + rail hub. Frequent GST-road buses toward Chengalpattu / Maraimalai Nagar pass SRM. ~30–45 min.
Take any Chennai / Tambaram-bound bus heading north on GST Road and get off at SRM. ~25–35 min.
The new Kalaignar Centenary (Kilambakkam) Bus Terminus near Vandalur handles most long-distance buses. Hop a GST-road bus or the Vandalur→Potheri local. ~20–30 min.
The town right next to SRM. Autos, Rapido and buses reach the campus in ~10 min.
Coming from Andhra Pradesh? Most APSRTC / private buses (Tirupati, Nellore, Vijayawada) arrive at Madhavaram Mofussil Bus Terminus in north Chennai. From there it's ~45–50 km to SRM — take a cab, or a bus/metro to Central or Tambaram and continue by suburban train to Potheri.
Coming from down south (Trichy, Madurai, Tirunelveli side)? You'll usually reach Kilambakkam / Vandalur Terminus or can get down at Guduvancheri / Chengalpattu — all a short hop from campus.
For the last mile — station to campus, or hopping between blocks and your stay — app rides are cheap and everywhere:
