MAIN EVENT 01 · LINE-FOLLOWER RACING CHALLENGE
Autonomous Grand Prix
"Three robots. One track. Zero human control."
Event Objective
The Autonomous Grand Prix is a high-speed line-following race in which autonomous robots compete simultaneously on a NASCAR-inspired racing track. Each robot must independently follow the designated line and reach the finish line without human control. The fastest robot advances through successive knockout rounds.

Rules & Regulations
01
Robot-Specific Rules
- The robot must operate completely autonomously after the start signal.
- No wired, wireless, Bluetooth, RF, Wi-Fi, or other form of external human control is permitted during the race.
- The robot must autonomously follow the designated line marked on the track.
- Sensors including IR arrays, cameras, optical sensors, ToF sensors, ultrasonic sensors, encoders, and IMUs may be used.
- Robots must not intentionally emit signals that interfere with the sensing or control systems of competing robots.
- The robot must comply with the common dimensional, weight, battery, and voltage requirements.
02
Track & Arena Rules
- The arena will occupy an area of approximately 9 m × 18 m.
- The racing track will have two separate lanes, each approximately 60–80 cm wide.
- The track will follow a NASCAR-inspired oval configuration.
- Both lanes will share a common finish line.
- To compensate for the difference in path length between the inner and outer lanes, the starting position of the outer-lane robot will be staggered forward by a predetermined distance.
- The stagger distance will be determined by the organisers so that both robots travel approximately equal distances.
- Track conditions may include curves and minor surface irregularities.
03
Gameplay Rules
- Two robots will normally compete simultaneously in each race.
- Each robot must be placed completely behind its designated starting line.
- The race begins only upon the referee's official start signal.
- The timer starts when the front-most edge of the robot crosses its respective starting line.
- The robot must remain within its assigned lane throughout the race.
- A robot crossing into another robot's lane or interfering with another competitor may be penalised.
- No human intervention is permitted during a normal race.
- If a robot loses the line, becomes immobilised, or malfunctions, the applicable restart provisions announced in the official round briefing will apply.
- The first robot whose front-most edge crosses the common finish line wins, subject to rule compliance.
